Iain Scott

Introduction to Ensemble Singing in Opera

Iain will tempt us with classic examples of vocal duets, trios, quartets and quintets in opera, and explain why composers use these forms and what they achieve musically and dramatically.
Sue Hammond and Rick Phillips

On Interpretation

Composers Compose. Musicians interpret. Sue and Rick will lead a lively discussion-demonstration on the personal choices made by conductors, instrumentalists and singers to turn the notes on a page into sculpted sound.
Tim McNicholas

Homer’s Odyssey (in Lake Ontario)

Tim is back by popular demand, after his sell-out performance last July of Wager’s Ring  Cycle (in Mississippi)
Rick Phillips

"My time will come."

Mahler's claim has come true. Why did it take so long? Why is his music growing in popularity now?
Nora Palmieri

Musings at 30,000 feet

When traveling by plane, we often forget the wonders of this relatively new phenomenon. Air travel, for most, only brings to mind evasive security procedures, cramped seating and jet lag. But what do pilots, who fly day-in and day-out, think about it all? Through an exploration of photos taken by those inside the cockpit, as well as quotes from the world’s most famous aviators, we'll explore their passion for flight and gain perspective on their sky high philosophical musings.
